Responsibilities

Plans, designs, develops, redesigns or enhances, installs, and implements various technology products, like specialty and other computer or industry equipment and systems, and enhances computer programs

Applies knowledge of software and programming to develop and test computer systems and produce the necessary outcome for clients

Drafts technical white papers that help people better understand the technology behind them, and assists in providing instructions that help the client better understand the nature and applications of a specific product

Participates in information gathering meetings with clients to determine the clients' needs, business goals, and desired outcomes

Gathers and researches information; confirms specifications, standards, and changes required to make or improve a product; and reports or presents information and new ideas to be implemented into new and existing services, products, or equipment

Works with management and multiple departments within companies such as customer service, sales, and manufacturing, ensuring customer specifications and needs are met

Solves problems, provides assistance to other departments, answers questions about the technical functionality, and provides technical support for products

Keeps current in software field, and stays informed and aware of latest industry practices and developments in science and technology

May work with heavy machinery and specialized equipment-planning, designing, implementing, and testing improvements
