Responsibilities

Perform repair work as outlined on repair orders with accuracy and efficiency
Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and complete necessary repairs
Coordinate with the parts department to obtain required components
Save and tag parts under warranty or upon customer request
Inspect vehicles for additional safety or service needs
Communicate promptly with service advisors regarding:
Additional required work
Unnecessary outlined work
Delays in completing repairs
Document all completed and recommended work on repair orders
Road-test vehicles when required to verify repairs
Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events
Stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins
Supervise apprentice technicians when assigned
Report equipment defects or malfunctions to management
Maintain cleanliness and condition of customer vehicles
Keep the shop area clean, organized, and safe
Maintain accountability for dealership-owned tools and manuals
Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, hazardous waste, etc.)
Operate tools and equipment safely and report safety issues immediately
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Specialize in specific repair areas while maintaining broad technical capability
Ensure all work meets dealership and manufacturer standards
Perform repair work as outlined on repair orders with accuracy and efficiency
Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and complete necessary repairs
Coordinate with the parts department to obtain required components
Save and tag parts under warranty or upon customer request
Inspect vehicles for additional safety or service needs

Associate's degree or technical school training OR 6 months-1 year related experience
Bachelor's degree OR 1-2 years related experience
Read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and repair instructions
Analyze technical procedures, journals, and government regulations
Perform basic math using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Apply common-sense problem-solving skills
Follow detailed written and verbal instructions
Resolve routine issues using standardized procedures

Preferred

2-4 years of hands-on service technician experience
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
