Senior Bioinformatician / Scientific Data Lead

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary scientific owner of all TruDiagnostic datasets, including:
Biobank and large cohort datasets
Interventional and longitudinal studies
Healthy control datasets
Technical replicate and QC datasets
TruDiagnostic commercial datasets
Publicly available and partner-provided datasets
Lead data cleaning, normalization, harmonization, and quality control across diverse data sources
Oversee covariate curation and cleaning (demographics, clinical variables, lifestyle factors, metadata)
Establish best practices for reproducible data processing, versioning, and documentation
Evaluate, recruit, and integrate large external datasets that align with TruDiagnostic’s research goals
Work closely with the engineering and software teams to design and build:
Interactive databases and dashboards
Internal tools for cohort exploration and hypothesis testing
Scalable data architectures that support research, product, and commercial needs
Translate scientific requirements into clear technical specifications for engineering partners
Ensure that data systems are scientifically robust, interpretable, and publication-ready
Perform and oversee statistical and bioinformatic analyses across large cohorts and interventional studies
Support development and validation of epigenetic clocks, biomarkers, and derived metrics
Provide scientific guidance across research, clinical, commercial, and product teams
Stay current on relevant scientific literature and emerging methods in bioinformatics, aging biology, and population-scale analysis
Lead and contribute to the drafting of peer-reviewed manuscripts, preprints, white papers, and technical reports
Serve as a primary or senior author on TruDiagnostic publications
Coordinate internally and with external collaborators on manuscript development, revisions, and responses to reviewers
Help define TruDiagnostic’s publication strategy and pipeline
Ensure analyses and figures meet the standards required for high-impact journals

Qualification

Required

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a closely related field
Demonstrated experience working with large cohort datasets (thousands to hundreds of thousands of samples)
Strong background in data cleaning, normalization, QC, and covariate management
Proficiency in bioinformatics and data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL)
Proven experience drafting and contributing to peer-reviewed scientific publications
Strong ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical teams
Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable owning complex projects end-to-end

Preferred

Experience working with epigenetic, genomic, or other high-dimensional biological data
Familiarity with longitudinal and interventional study designs
Experience collaborating with software or data engineering teams
Track record of first- or senior-author publications
Experience integrating public datasets (e.g., GEO, UK Biobank, NHANES, or similar)
