Essentia Health is a healthcare organization seeking a System Finance Director to provide system-level leadership for specialized healthcare accounting functions. This role focuses on overseeing financial estimates related to Accounts Receivable and Government Reimbursement while collaborating with finance leadership and ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for net revenue estimation, A/R valuation, and government reimbursement functions within the Controller organization

Oversee managers responsible for:

Contractual and bad debt allowance methodologies in accordance with GAAP

Net revenue modeling, hindsight lookback analysis, and variance analysis

Government reimbursement and cost reporting, including third-party payer dynamics

Ensure consistency, rigor, and integrity of methodologies supporting some of the largest and highest-risk financial estimates on the balance sheet

Partner with internal and external auditors related to revenue recognition, reimbursement, and compliance activities

Present and explain complex financial estimates, trends, and variances to senior finance and system leadership, including the CFO

Lead continuous improvement efforts across net revenue and reimbursement processes, tools, and reporting

Provide guidance related to net revenue and reimbursement considerations for acquisitions, divestitures, and organizational changes

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Progressive healthcare accounting or finance experience, with direct exposure to: Net revenue estimation and A/R valuation or Government reimbursement and cost reporting

Demonstrated experience leading specialized teams within a complex or matrixed organization

Strong working knowledge of GAAP-based healthcare revenue recognition
