Executive Director, Enterprise Growth & Operations

The Source Advisory is working with The Howard School, a private K–12 school specializing in educating students with language-based learning differences. The Executive Director of Enterprise Growth & Operations will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, operations, marketing, budgeting, and evaluation of all auxiliary programs and campus operations, while advancing institutional growth and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Build high-quality programs that achieve annual and long-term net revenue goals while advancing the school’s mission
Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and administration to ensure mission and cultural alignment
Design, enhance, and expand offerings aligned with long-term strategic and financial objectives
Identify innovative opportunities and partnerships that leverage the school’s intellectual and physical assets
Support admissions efforts by increasing market exposure and brand awareness
Gather and analyze participant and staff feedback annually to improve program quality
Ensure safe, positive, and enriching experiences for all participants
Oversee and collaborate with existing staff on all summer and auxiliary programs
Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations aligned with school values
Provide training, supervision, and professional development for program faculty and staff
Develop and oversee safety and health protocols in coordination with the school’s risk management plan
Collaborate with Facilities to manage campus rentals and usage policies
Develop program pricing in coordination with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School for Finance & Operations to ensure appropriate margins
Ensure all programs meet or exceed budgeted financial performance
Prepare and manage annual budgets for all auxiliary programs
Monitor monthly revenues and expenses to ensure profitability
Provide accurate and timely financial data to the Business Office
Partner with program directors to improve financial performance
Establish employee compensation in coordination with Finance & Operations leadership
Provide strategic oversight of campus and facility operations
Ensure safety, security, and operational efficiency of all facilities
Lead building maintenance, grounds, custodial services, and capital project coordination
Foster accountability, mentorship, and collaboration among operations staff
Promote The Howard School and all programs to achieve enrollment and revenue targets
Partner with the Director of Marketing & Communications to implement comprehensive marketing strategies
Ensure consistent branding across websites, social media, and digital marketing
Oversee creation of catalogs, brochures, and program schedules
Manage internal and external communications for cohesive messaging
Collaborate with Admissions to identify and cultivate prospective full-time student leads
Track and analyze marketing metrics to refine enrollment strategies
Ensure efficient administration of all programs
Oversee registration systems and databases
Prepare regular performance reports for school leadership
Execute and manage program-related contracts
Ensure compliance with all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements
Build and manage a high-performing, customer-focused auxiliary programs team including annual performance evaluations for program staff
Oversee recruiting, hiring, and training of program staff in collaboration with HR
Ensure completion of all employment documentation and background checks
Coordinate payroll with the Business Office
Participate in special projects and committees related to facilities, safety, accreditation, and strategic initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Required

5-7 years of summer/auxiliary program experience or equivalent
3-5 years of progressively responsible experience managing summer/auxiliary programs or equivalent with significant campus operations experience
The ability to think strategically in developing, enhancing, and refining programs in the broader context of a mission-driven independent school
Bachelor's degree required
A high level of integrity and an extraordinary work ethic
A demonstrated commitment to creating and supporting diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities
A vested interest in the care and needs of adolescents
Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to develop and manage a budget
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Expertise in marketing summer or similar programs using a variety of technology resources including social media
Well-developed collaborative work style: ability to interact with employees at all levels of the community
Ability to understand youth development programming, applicable regulations/laws, trends, best practices and new developments in the field
A creative self-starter who brings wisdom, perspective, confidence and excellent problem-solving skills to the position
A high level of cultural competency and a commitment and ability to work with a diverse community
Knowledge and skill to negotiate and manage contracts
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and regularly adjust strategy based on the school's needs
An independent and strategic thinker capable of understanding the full scope of projects while seeing individual tasks through to completion
Experience with Microsoft Office products, Google applications, database management, website development, and digital media
A positive outlook, and a sense of humor
