IT Helpdesk/Senior Systems Administrator
Reynolds + Rowella is an independent, successful, family-oriented Professional Services Firm providing accounting and advisory services. The IT Helpdesk/Senior System Administrator will collaborate with the IT Manager to maintain the stability, security, and efficiency of systems, particularly concerning confidential client data and tax processing software.
Responsibilities
Assist in setup, maintenance, monitoring of internal servers, workstations and network devices
Help Manage backups, ensuring tax data/client information are regularly, securely backed up
Provide technical support to tax professionals and staff, resolving system and software issues related to the firm’s operations
Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops and servers, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
Assist in the installation and configuration of tax preparation software, accounting tools and any other applications essential for tax filing
Assist in implementing and maintaining security protocols, and access controls to protect sensitive client information in compliance with privacy regulations
Help monitor firm’s systems for potential security breaches or unauthorized access attempts
Ensure user access management (creating, modifying and disabling accounts) is done according to the firm’s internal policies
Support Firm’s tax and accounting technologies: CCH, QuickBooks, SurePrep, Safe Send, etc
Keep Firm’s systems updated with the latest patches, antivirus software and security updates
Support staff with IT issues by responding to Helpdesk requests and inquiries
Documenting completion of requests
Participate/Facilitate IT onboarding with new hires
Communicate with staff in regard to the progress of requests made through helpdesk, impending changes or updates to Firm software, outages, etc
Assist with other IT related admin projects upon request by IT Management or Leadership
Availability for after-hour system updates
Requirement to work some evenings and weekends as necessary
Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects/equipment
Frequent same day travel to New Canaan office using personal vehicle
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or associate degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
7+ years of experience in IT support
Must have experience with AD (Active Directory), Entra
Working experience/familiarity with Windows Server, Linux, Cisco Meraki, Unifi, etc
Basic networking knowledge
Experience with cloud technologies
Understanding of cybersecurity principles, data protection and compliance requirements for handling financial information
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to details, and thinks creatively/out-the-box
Excellent communication skills - ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff and ask questions to help identify issues
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Knowledge of security best practices; multi-factor authentication and encryption methods
Preferred
Power BI experience is preferred
CompTIA Security+ is a plus, not required
