Responsibilities

Design mechanical aspects of complex new electronic controllers, including component placement, attachment and module packaging to meet or exceed customer specifications and requirements while ensuring manufacturability with internal and/or external capabilities
Design and develop mechanical layouts for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), including component placement constraints and mounting hardware
Consider design requirements for environment, operation conditions, reliability and durability in all aspects of the physical design
Determine technical objectives and develop innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems
Design for EMI/EMC shielding using gaskets, coatings, and specialized enclosure geometry to minimize electromagnetic interference
Support Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate designs against severe shock and vibration profiles (DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 or equivalent)
Support Thermal Analysis to manage heat dissipation through conduction, convection, and radiation in both active and passively cooled systems
Assist test engineering, quality and manufacturing in building, installing, debugging and testing designed equipment to ensure production capabilities
Design and conduct development testing with Test Engineers. Assist Test Engineer to interpret testing results, conduct analysis and support Test Engineer in writing analysis and test reports
Draw conclusions and reconcile differences between predicted and actual results
Provide engineering design, field maintenance support and engineering guidance for manufacturing, quality and supply chain organizations
Plan and coordinate the maintenance of assigned designs, including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations to ensure visibility of the solution(s)
Provide technical support to failure investigations and bid responses, with a technical leadership role when requested
Assess any non-conforming product for engineering disposition as part of MRB process
