Responsibilities
Performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment
Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff
Participates in administrative activities
Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for others
May provide functional supervision to support staff
Qualification
Required
Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training as a Clinical Lab Scientist in a clinical laboratory
Or Minimum 1 year of work experience as a CLS performing high complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
Bachelor's degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements
Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Licenses
Or acceptable Limited California Licenses in specialty areas: Clinical Chemist Scientist License, Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License, Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License, Clinical Hematologist Scientist License, Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License, Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License, Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License
Preferred
1+ year of clinical experience in the specialty or subspecialty areas of the clinical laboratory
ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty
