Responsibilities
Responsible for the development and production of new and renewal Agribusiness accounts
Oversees the maintenance of constructive business relationships with assigned agents and works with them to identify new business opportunities, evaluate risks, recommends corrective actions and educates the producer to identify risks that meet Company guidelines
Reviews individual applications for Ag lines to evaluate the degree of risk involved and to approve or reject based on Company policies
Develop new business, retains renewal book of business, and manages territory of assigned agents
Qualification
Required
College Degree in finance, business administration, insurance or other related business discipline
3-5 years' experience as an Ag or Commercial lines underwriter
Demonstrated ability to utilize assigned authorities to make decisions that benefit the company's bottom line and provide solutions to our valued agency partners
Proficient with Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Tableau
Experience with Policy Center and Guidewire
Knowledge of underwriting practice, procedures, rules and regulations
Knowledge of rating plans (ISO or similar) and commercial lines coverages
Knowledge of social, economic and competitive aspects of territory assigned
Knowledge of national and local business conditions and trends
Knowledge of account and portfolio pricing based on goals and expense initiatives
Knowledge of underwriting and marketing philosophy and procedure
Knowledge of basic mathematics and the application of formulas
Ability to correlate risk factors to underwriting standards to determine acceptance of risk
Ability to analyze problems and develop effective, pragmatic solutions
Ability to effectively exchange ideas, information and influence others
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Driver License and operate a vehicle
Ability to perform and produce consistently under pressure of deadlines within production standards
Ability to use assigned underwriting authority to drive profitable results
Preferred
CPCU certification or completion of technical insurance coursework focusing on underwriting principles
