Responsibilities
Operate Vertical Turret Lathes, manual engine lathes, and horizontal boring mills to machine large pump components: cases, impellers, wear rings, bearing housings, shafts, and covers
Consistently achieve +/− 0.001" tolerances
Lay out work, interpret blueprints, and select proper tooling/feeds/speeds based on metal properties
Compute angles, radii, bolt circles, and complex dimensions accurately
Perform planing and boring on horizontal pump casings (nice to have)
Use overhead cranes to move and stage large parts safely
Qualification
Required
Minimum 3 years of manual machining (shop or field)
Blueprint literacy and proven track record holding close tolerances
Operate Vertical Turret Lathes, manual engine lathes, and horizontal boring mills to machine large pump components: cases, impellers, wear rings, bearing housings, shafts, and covers
Consistently achieve +/− 0.001" tolerances
Lay out work, interpret blueprints, and select proper tooling/feeds/speeds based on metal properties
Compute angles, radii, bolt circles, and complex dimensions accurately
Use overhead cranes to move and stage large parts safely
Preferred
5 years of manual machining experience preferred
Journeyman machinist or military Machinist's Mate (or equivalent) preferred
Experience with pumps or rotating equipment strongly considered
Perform planing and boring on horizontal pump casings (nice to have)
