Law Practice

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth research on complex issues in immigration and crimmigration law, including case law, statutes, and country conditions
Draft, edit, and finalize core legal documents such as Motions to Terminate (MTRs) and extensive briefs for the BIA and Immigration Courts (PSG/PHS briefs)
Review, organize, and summarize voluminous evidence (criminal records, affidavits, country reports) and prepare materials for court submission
Prepare attorneys for hearings by assembling trial packets, creating chronologies and charts, and drafting formal discovery/document requests (e.g., FOIA requests)

Required

Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd-year law student
Superior legal research, writing, and analytical skills are mandatory, with demonstrated proficiency in proper legal citation (e.g., Bluebook)
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high-volume workload professionally

Preferred

Previous law clinic experience (Immigration, Asylum, or Criminal Justice focus)
Completed coursework in Immigration Law, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, and/or Appellate Advocacy
Direct experience drafting MTRs, motions to terminate, PSG, or PHS briefs
