Director Integrated Donor Marketing

Versiti Blood Center of Illinois is a leader in blood donation and research, dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes through innovative medical services. The Director of Integrated Donor Marketing will lead the national strategy for donor recruitment and lifecycle engagement, overseeing marketing execution across various blood products and geographies. This role requires collaboration with state teams to ensure effective local adaptation of enterprise strategies while driving a data-driven marketing approach.

Responsibilities

Develop and own the enterprise blood donor recruitment strategy, including annual and quarterly priorities for mobile and donor centers
Lead donor lifecycle architecture (first-time, second-time, frequency, lapsed re-engagement, loyal donor programs)
Establish the national donor editorial calendar, ensuring timely, synchronized email, SMS, and paid activations
Translate enterprise goals into clear playbooks, toolkits, messaging frameworks, and field-ready materials used across all six states
Serve as the principal architect of Versiti’s O2O strategy and field readiness cadence (4-, 8-, 12-week cycles)
Collaborate with EMS and Creative Services to produce enterprise-level assets, testing frameworks, and campaign execution pathways
Lead central marketing strategy for platelets, O-negative, DRBC, RBC, and plasma, ensuring distinct messaging, journeys, segmentation, and donor education
Oversee product-specific recruitment campaigns, retention journeys, and transitions (e.g., whole blood → platelets)
Partner with clinical SMEs to ensure accuracy and clarity in all donor-facing product content
Support the Manager, Platelet Program in executing high-value platelet donor acquisition, retention, and reactivation strategies
Align product-specific promotions with the Manager, Promotions & Loyalty to shape competitive, insight-driven incentive strategies
Lead national digital donor engagement strategy in partnership with the Digital Donor Engagement Strategist and EMS Digital Marketing
Oversee segmentation-based email and SMS programs, including welcome series, conversion campaigns, and lapsed donor journeys
Guide state strategists in adapting enterprise journeys locally without breaking brand or data standards
Drive continuous optimization using A/B testing, analytics, and donor behavioral insights from EMS
Lead a hub-and-spoke influence model that preserves AVP authority while elevating enterprise clarity
Oversee the State Marketing Integration & Field Enablement Lead, ensuring strong communication, readiness, and toolkit deployment across states
Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to state AVPs, offering insights, solutions, and strategic support without direct authority
Facilitate a consistent operating rhythm across geographies, including: o Weekly strategist huddles o Monthly AVP–IDM performance syncs o Quarterly SMAC reviews o Seasonal readiness briefings Ensure state feedback loops, field intelligence, and local insights inform future campaigns
Lead the Collections Content Strategist, ensuring all donor-facing content is agile, relevant, and aligned with the Versiti brand
Translate complex product/clinical knowledge into accessible, donor-friendly narratives that inspire action
Drive prioritization and creative briefing into Enterprise Creative Services
Ensure all state messaging is grounded in enterprise strategy and tailored only where beneficial
Oversee the Manager, Promotions & Loyalty, shaping Versiti’s enterprise incentive, loyalty, and donor experience programs
Drive a clear “Reason for Every Season” promo calendar tied to donor behavior insights
Ensure donor recognition, milestone, and stewardship programs are competitive and psychologically motivating
Measure performance in partnership with EMS Insights to guide optimization and ROI modeling
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures

Required

Bachelor's Degree Marketing, Communications, Business or related field required
7-9 years Experience in Marketing, Communications, Donor Recruitment, or a related area required
4-6 years Experience in people leadership including recruiting, hiring, developing and engaging a high performing team required
4-6 years Demonstrated success developing multi-channel strategies of scale (SMS, email, paid, partner activation) required
4-6 years Demonstrated expertise in lifecycle marketing, behavioral segmentation, and data-driven optimization required
1-3 years Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing a large portfolio of marketing campaigns required
1-3 years Demonstrated project management skills including planning, leadership, communication and change management required
Proven ability to inspire, engage, and lead cross-functional teams, with a focus on developing talent and delivering results required
Ability to cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders across departments and geographic regions required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage diverse audiences and internal teams required
