Automotive Service Writer
Kelly Nissan is seeking an Automotive Service Writer to act as the primary liaison between customers and the service department. The role involves evaluating vehicle concerns, preparing repair orders, coordinating with technicians, and ensuring a positive customer experience throughout the repair process.

Responsibilities
Greet customers and listen to their vehicle concerns, symptoms, or service requests
Clearly explain recommended maintenance and repair procedures, including costs and time estimates
Maintain open, professional communication with customers throughout the repair process
Follow up after service to ensure customer satisfaction and address additional questions
Create detailed and accurate repair orders based on customer descriptions and technician diagnoses
Review technician recommendations and translate technical information into customer-friendly language
Obtain approvals for additional repairs and communicate any changes to costs or timelines
Coordinate the scheduling of vehicles and ensure efficient workflow in the service department
Work closely with technicians, parts staff, and service managers to ensure timely and accurate service delivery
Communicate customer concerns clearly to technicians and ensure recommended repairs align with safety and quality standards
Assist with parts ordering and ensure parts are available for scheduled repairs
Recommend maintenance services based on manufacturer guidelines and vehicle history
Provide estimates and upsell beneficial services without pressuring customers
Explain warranties, service contracts, and coverage details
Process payments, warranty forms, and insurance claims
Maintain accurate customer records and document all conversations and approvals
Maintain a clean and organized service desk area
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or automotive training preferred
Prior experience as a Service Writer, Service Advisor, or in customer service/automotive roles
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic understanding of vehicle systems and repair terminology
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with dealership management software (DMS), scheduling tools, and standard office applications
