Responsibilities
Handle civil litigation defense matters from intake through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and case strategy materials
Take and defend depositions and manage written discovery
Appear in court for hearings, CMCs, and motion practice
Communicate directly with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
Work closely with legal assistants/secretaries on filings, calendaring, and trial prep
Support settlement efforts, mediation, and ADR as needed
Qualification
Required
Active CA Bar (required)
2+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally on the defense side
Comfortable managing deadlines, motion practice, and discovery independently
Strong legal writing and analytical skills
Courtroom experience (hearings, CMCs, motions) is a plus
Professional, responsive communicator with a team-oriented mindset
Preferred
Civil litigation defense experience (insurance defense strongly preferred)
