Lead Charge Auditor & Oncology Coding
The START Center for Cancer Care is pioneering premier Cancer Care for patients with leading doctors and advanced diagnostics. They are seeking a Lead Charge Auditor who will be responsible for charge capture accuracy, coding compliance, and audit support across oncology and surgical services, while also mentoring and guiding coding and audit staff.

Responsibilities
Perform routine charge capture audits for professional services, including E/M, infusions, injections, drug administration, procedures, and ancillary services
Compare clinical documentation to billed charges and coding; identify missed charges, undercoding, overcoding, and compliance issues
Assist with payer audits, RAC requests, and internal compliance reviews by gathering records and validating charges and coding
Track audit findings and trends; assist with reporting outcomes and identifying recurring issues
Work with billing, HIM, and clinical teams to resolve audit findings and improve workflows
Review oncology-specific services such as chemotherapy, biologics, immunotherapy, and supportive care
Assist with audits related to clinical trial patients, including appropriate use of modifiers and payer billing rules
Serve as a resource to staff on basic oncology and clinical trial billing questions
Stay current on payer and CMS guidance impacting oncology services
Conduct pre-bill and retrospective coding reviews for CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and modifiers
Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, LCDs/NCDs, and payer-specific rules
Identify documentation gaps and escalate trends to leadership
Support ongoing compliance monitoring and audit readiness
Provide day-to-day guidance and support to auditors and coding staff
Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
Share audit feedback with staff and providers in a clear, supportive manner
Help maintain audit tools, tracking logs, and standard workflows
Escalate complex issues or recurring risks to management
Qualification
Required
Current coding certification: CPC, CCS, or equivalent (AAPC or AHIMA)
Minimum 3–5 years of coding and auditing experience, including charge capture review
Experience auditing professional services, including E/M and procedural coding
Working knowledge of payer audit processes and compliance requirements
Ability to balance independent audit work with team support responsibilities
Preferred
Oncology coding or auditing experience
Exposure to clinical trial billing or research-related audits
Additional certifications such as CPMA, RHIA/RHIT, or CCS-P
Experience working in an EHR environment and basic reporting tools
Strong Excel skills for tracking audit results
