Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems on heavy equipment and trucks
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and DOT inspections on fleet vehicles and equipment
Troubleshoot and repair issues related to hydraulics, brakes, steering, suspension, and powertrain components
Maintain accurate service records and document work performed
Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites to minimize downtime
Operate service truck and tools safely when performing field repairs
Collaborate with operators, foremen, and the Fleet Manager to prioritize maintenance needs
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop and yard area
Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures when performing repairs and using tools or equipment
Use appropriate PPE and maintain awareness of jobsite hazards
Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or near misses promptly

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment diagnostics
Valid driver's license and clean MVR
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
Proficient with diagnostic software and tools
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, climb, and work in various weather conditions
Capable of standing or working in awkward positions for extended periods
Must be comfortable working outdoors and on active construction sites

Preferred

trade or technical school preferred
preferably in construction or heavy equipment environments
CDL preferred but not required
ASE or OEM certifications a plus (Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, etc.)
OSHA 10 or 30 preferred (can be provided by company)
