Responsibilities

Review and validate Microsoft Purview scan results for PII/PHI across prioritized production databases
Manually confirm accuracy of classifications by querying source systems (SQL)
Identify false positives, false negatives, and classification gaps
Apply defined rules and patterns consistently to establish a known-good baseline
Compare scan outputs against validated results to determine accuracy levels
Document validated findings and exceptions clearly for downstream remediation teams
Contribute to a prioritized backlog of classification improvements and rule enhancements
Support creation of repeatable validation artifacts used for audit and MMC responses
Operate within defined data governance policies, stewardship guidelines, and escalation paths
Work closely with existing Data Stewards, Governance leads, DBAs, and Security teams
Participate in sprint-based execution (Jira) and regular working sessions
Provide transparent status updates on progress, risks, and blockers

Qualification

SQLRelational databasesData classification conceptsData quality toolsPython

Required

Strong SQL skills (querying, filtering, validating data across schemas and databases)
Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server preferred)
Ability to analyze large datasets using SQL, spreadsheets, or Python
Familiarity with data classification concepts (PII, PHI, sensitive data types)
Experience working with data quality tools like Purview or Privasera
