Responsibilities
Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards
Ensure proper training and adherence to lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and PPE requirements
Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions
Manage daily operations of extrusion lines, covering staffing, scheduling, and production planning
Ensure extrusion lines operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Drive achievement of production targets, scrap reduction, yield improvement, and on-time delivery
Oversee startup, shutdown, and changeover processes to minimize downtime
Ensure consistent product quality, including gauge, width, flatness, and surface appearance
Partner with Quality and Engineering to maintain process controls, SPC, and corrective action systems
Establish and enforce standard operating procedures and work instructions
Support customer audits, internal audits, and quality certifications
Lead, coach, and develop extrusion supervisors, leads, and operators
Build a high-performance, safety-focused culture with clear expectations and accountability
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning for extrusion personnel
Conduct performance reviews and manage corrective actions when required
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, scrap reduction, throughput, and labor efficiency
Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to improve equipment reliability and preventative maintenance effectiveness
Manage extrusion-related budgets, including labor, materials, utilities, and consumables
Qualification
Required
A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
Strong knowledge of thermoformable sheet extrusion processes, tooling, and downstream equipment
Proven experience managing teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements and cost reductions
Experience and understanding of GMPs
Familiarity with multi-layer co-extrusion and recycled content processing
Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
Experience supporting FDA, food-contact, or medical packaging environments
