Responsibilities
Aid general management over the production and manufacturing operations, materials, inspection and NDT at PRL Industries, Inc
Provide leadership and training to accomplish production and quality goals as well as the company goals and objectives. Makes decisions regarding improving productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations
Communicates daily with manufacturing and QA personnel. Takes initiative to provide a feedback loop to Engineering to aid in correcting job-specific shortcomings such as inadequate casting engineering, excessive rework, excesses or short stock conditions, and deficient job routing steps. Direct interaction with NDT inspectors and especially with dimensional inspection personnel will be paramount. Will aid in defect classification by interacting with both manufacturing and QA, as well as helping determine the best methods to minimize defect removal and weld classification
Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors
Aid in developing new products and / or technologies within PRL Industries, Inc. with goal being to improve quality, increase process control and / or reduce costs
Works with foundry engineering as needed to develop new casting projects to include working with solid models for pouring simulations
Manages projects for customer contracts
Aids in process development for jobs at PRL Industries, Inc. to include consumables at the foundry and process flow between PRL Industries and machine shops
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Materials/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field preferred
Hands on experience in casting upgrade processes - welding, grinding, jet-arc, heat treat, QC/QA, NDT, machining and/or related experience
Three to five years of manufacturing process experience which should include metals manufacturing, pattern rigging design, casting upgrade processes and machining of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
Familiar with all aspects of foundry/upgrade operations and associated operations/processes with strong abilities for problem analysis and related implementation of corrective actions/solutions
Familiarity and ability to use related manufacturing tools and read blueprints
Developed judgement and decision-making skills
Ability to coordinate operations and to motivate a workforce to produce and ship products, with minimal supervision
Must be able to communicate well with shop personnel, plant management, customers and suppliers
