Responsibilities
Develop instrumentation design basis, philosophies, specifications, and control strategies
Select and specify field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, valves, actuators)
Prepare instrument datasheets, requisitions, technical specifications, and material take-offs
Perform sizing calculations for control valves, flow elements, level instruments, and relief devices
Develop and review P&IDs, loop diagrams, control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, and interlock schemes
Create and maintain instrumentation deliverables including instrument index, I/O lists, BOMs, cable schedules, hook-ups, wiring, and installation details
Interface with PLC/DCS/SCADA teams and review control logic, alarms, and automation architectures
Review vendor documentation, perform technical bid evaluations, and support FAT and SAT activities
Support construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration, and site acceptance testing
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, hazardous area classifications, and SIL requirements
Support HAZOP, LOPA, and functional safety studies
Produce and update drawings using CAD and 3D tools (AutoCAD, SmartPlant, Aveva, E3D, MicroStation)
Design cable routing, tray layouts, junction box arrangements, and calculate tray loading and cable lengths
Define instrument locations considering process requirements, accessibility, safety, and maintainability
Coordinate with piping, electrical, process, and civil/structural disciplines
Provide construction support, RFIs, redlines, and as-built documentation
Design and support instrumentation systems for ASU, LNG, and CO₂ facilities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in instrumentation engineering for industrial gases, ASU, LNG, or CO₂ equipment
Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, control valves, and safety systems
Experience with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar)
Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems for industrial automation
Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and control system issues
Willingness to travel for short-term including international assignments when needed
