Part Time Tax Preparer
Ultimate Staffing is looking for a tax preparer for one of their well-established tax firm clients in Melville, NY, specializing in providing high-quality tax preparation and consulting services. This temporary role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele while contributing to the firm's success during tax season.
Responsibilities
Prepare individual and business tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations
Review and analyze client financial information to determine the correct tax liabilities
Meet with clients to gather necessary documentation for tax preparation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Schedule appointments with clients, providing timely reminders and confirming appointment details
Assist clients with walk-ins, answering general inquiries and addressing tax-related concerns
Provide exceptional customer service, explaining tax-related information in a clear and approachable manner
Ensure that all tax returns are filed in a timely manner and provide clients with appropriate documentation
Keep up to date with current tax laws, regulations, and software to provide accurate and relevant advice
Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth workflow during busy tax season
Assist in the preparation of supporting documents and forms as needed
Qualification
Required
Experience with Pro Systems Tax FX
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience as a tax preparer, with a solid understanding of tax laws and regulations
Experience using tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, Drake, or similar) is required
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure during peak season
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Customer-focused with a professional and approachable demeanor
Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
