Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

Receive / process / analyze product & chemical samples from different areas of the plant
Complete sample analysis for supporting daily operations that includes, but is not limited to, RV, Amine Ends, pH, X-ray, tensile properties, finish on yarn, moisture on yarn, and crimp measurement
Ensure sample results are automatically sent via computer applications, and results are communicated with the machine operators in a timely manner
Have a strong attention to detail, be a critical and analytical thinker, and be a good communicator
Multitask: coordinate priorities and flow to the work
Cross-train to learn all aspects of the lab and improve our lab operations
Share and seek knowledge from the technical or the area Specialist to assist with troubleshooting, any special training/equipment needs
Process special requests from engineers, supporting new product testing
Maintain safe work practices by following safety data sheets (SDS’s), plant/area Safety rules and procedures
Respond to production or environmental non-conformance while communicating with the site operations
Manage data entry in computer applications (SAP, OpCon, PQM-g, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite

Required

Experience working in a laboratory environment OR quality control and quality assurance testing
Ability to provide lab coverage outside of standard working hours

Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, stooping, standing, sitting, pushing, and/or pulling for twelve (12) hours/day
Must be capable of regular lifting and moving up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting and moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds
Commitment to adhere to safety rules and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (including respirators)

Preferred

Associate's degree or higher in a science field
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of various computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, OpCon, PQM, and SAP
Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel, such as creating and modifying spreadsheets and using functions, filters, and graphs to analyze data
Familiarity with Safe Work Practices, such as Lock Out, Tag Out
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field
