Electrical Hardware Engineering Manager, Avionics Compliance

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor an electrical design team; manage performance evaluations, professional growth, and resource allocations across multiple programs
Ensure hardware designs meet DAL requirements; oversee creation and approval of PHACs, HDPs, and Hardware Accomplishment Summaries
Set and guide electrical strategies for EMI/EMC compliance and environmental qualification
Support Systems Engineering during PDR/CDR; review and approve CCA documentation and enforce DFM/DFA to drive production scalability and repeatability
Bid and forecast staffing and resource needs; manage department budgets and project schedules to ensure on-time delivery
Plan and track engineering scope, schedule, and cost performance via Earned Value Management (EVM) aligned to program IMS and budgets
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to meet technical, cost, and schedule targets
Develop and implement engineering processes and technical approaches that elevate efficiency and quality
Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities for team members
Stay current on industry trends and advancements to drive continuous improvement in engineering practices

Required

15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, including at least 2 years in a managerial role
Expertise with advanced PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices
Deep understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and RTCA DO-160 standards
Experience with resource planning, performance evaluations (SMART goals), and team development
Working knowledge of EVM concepts as applied to engineering execution on government programs
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Willing and able to travel both within and outside the U.S
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
Military service or government contract experience
