Responsibilities
Directly manages and supervises all functions of the laboratories and instruments
Assumes responsibility for laboratory and personnel compliance, competency, quality assurance, fiscal management and services
Works collaboratively with department directors and managers, QI teams, to interpret data and identify opportunities to improve clinical outcomes through evidence-based medicine
Maintains clinical competency by providing direct patient care
Performs duties involved with the treatment, management control, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and/or abnormalities within the Pulmonary system
Qualification
Required
Graduate from a Respiratory Therapy program
If credentialed after 2002, must maintain active membership status for credentials issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care
Active ASBRT RRT licensure required
Active NBRC RRT required
BLS required
Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills
Must have the ability to successfully complete work within rigid time constraints
Must possess reasoning ability and good independent judgment
Preferred
Additional certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc) may be required depending upon area assigned
