Principal Shock and Structural Engineer
RX2 Solutions is seeking a Principal Shock and Structural Engineer to serve as a technical expert in shock and vibration design and analysis for high-performance rotating equipment. The role involves hands-on contributions to ensure the shock survivability and vibration performance of product lines such as large electric motors and generators, while also mentoring and leading project teams.

Responsibilities
Act as a subject matter expert and mentor while working independently or as part of cross-functional project teams
Monitor and report on project progress, milestones, and completion estimates
Perform detailed shock and vibration analyses on large assemblies, including: Static and transient dynamic analysis, Shock spectra response analysis, US Navy dynamic design analysis method (DDAM, T9070-AJ-DPC-120/3010), Linear and non-linear contact analysis, and Normal mode and force response analysis
Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems without adding unnecessary weight or cost
Confidently represent the organization in front of customers, including the U.S. Navy
Clearly communicate technical findings and project updates in both written and verbal form to diverse audiences, including customers, leadership, and executive management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and at least 8 years of experience analyzing stresses and deflections in turbomachinery or large rotating equipment (motors, generators, rotors, stators, turbine casings, bases)
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
Expertise in MIL-S-901D IC2, MIL-DTL-901, with direct experience in shock and vibration testing
Experience designing and analyzing welded fabrications and complex rotating machinery
Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including material selection
Advanced proficiency in ANSYS Mechanical (Workbench) FEA
Proven ability to lead the full product development cycle from concept through qualification and field deployment
Familiarity with systems engineering principles and system-level design
Preferred
Background in rotating machinery development and related manufacturing drawings
Active security clearance
Experience with ANSYS ADPL (Classic)
Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks)
Experience with MSC analysis software (NASTRAN, PATRAN, APEX)
Familiarity with casting, forging, welding, machining, and assembly best practices
Knowledge of shock and vibration tools such as UERD or SIMPLE
Experience using project management tools (MS Project, Jira)
Previous experience executing military programs
