Responsibilities

Prepares samples for analysis/examination and carries out a limited range of basic metallurgical services under direct supervision of the Group Leader
Perform mechanical and magnetic tests on standard equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity etc
Perform metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment and standard metallographic equipment
Collect and record test data obtained during the evaluation
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned
This position can be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing, or Heat Treating
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

Required

High school diploma required
Entry level position
Elementary knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods and practices, and of metallurgical/laboratory equipment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions
Solves routine problems by using standard procedures and/or processes
Responds to standard requests from internal or external customers
Manages own time to meet deadlines through guidance of others within a specified timeframe
Works with others within own area or department to achieve team goals; scope of basic knowledge and skills
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, to conduct entry level activities narrow in scope and of relatively low complexity, to operate basic metallurgical/laboratory equipment, and to work in a production-oriented environment
Verbal and written communication skills
Willing to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
