Responsibilities
Develop conventional and computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering drafts and drawings from preliminary concepts and sketches
Organize construction specifications, cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports
Utilize CAD software to prepare engineering designs, drawings, and layouts for infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage systems, and other civil works related to mining operations
Conduct site surveys, gather field data, and assist in the preparation of detailed engineering drawings and maps
Assist in the development and implementation of project plans, schedules, and budgets. Provide technical support during the construction phase, including site inspections and coordination with contractors
Perform calculations and analyses to ensure the structural integrity and feasibility of proposed designs
Participate in field surveys, inspections or technical investigations of topography, soils, drainage and water supply systems, road and highway systems, buildings and structures to provide data for engineering projects
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
Qualification
Required
One (1) year experience as a Civil Engineering Technician or EIT, preferably in the mining or construction industry
Degree in Civil engineering or certification in civil engineering technology or in a related field
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification through Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist or the ability to obtain
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D), GIS applications, and other engineering design tools
Familiarity with surveying equipment and techniques
