Battery Production Engineer
Reliance One, Inc. is hiring for a Battery Production Engineer to support the production preparation and new model launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment. This role is responsible for leading production preparation activities and ensuring equipment readiness, safety, quality, and on-time project execution.

Responsibilities
Lead the procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment
Create and maintain detailed project schedules and manage budgetary control for assigned areas
Develop battery manufacturing process plans and machine specifications using company, industry, and continuous improvement standards
Apply working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and civil design principles to provide engineering criteria and design feedback (including sizing, routing, materials, and component selection)
Create clear explanatory documents and drawings outlining job scope, execution plans, progress updates, risks, and options for stakeholders
Collaborate across functional teams, company divisions, and international partners to drive project success
Plan and monitor equipment installation, identify field issues, and work closely with construction teams to implement countermeasures
Champion a “zero incidents is possible” safety culture by modeling safe behaviors and addressing unsafe conditions immediately
Demonstrate quality-first leadership during pre-production trials at vendor sites and installation locations
Mentor and support team members through technical guidance, standards development, and work instruction authorship
Participate in mentorship programs to support professional growth and engineering development
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field OR 5+ years of equivalent engineering experience
Minimum 3 years of experience with production preparation of battery manufacturing equipment, including procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch
Minimum 3 years of experience leading capital projects with responsibility for schedules, budgets, and KPI-based progress reporting
Experience using AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, or similar CAD tools, including the ability to read, interpret, and modify 2D and 3D drawings
Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%, and up to 50% during peak project periods
Ability to work weekends and plant shutdowns (including July and December)
Preferred
Advanced engineering degree beyond a Bachelor's
Experience creating process plans and machine specifications using lean manufacturing principles
Experience leading structured equipment trials to verify compliance with design, performance, and quality requirements
Battery manufacturing experience, including electrochemistry, slot die coating, roll-to-roll processing, laser cutting, or vision inspection systems
Experience with industrial controls, industrial networks, PLC programming (Mitsubishi and/or Omron), or MES systems
TBP completion through Panel
Japanese language proficiency
