Sustainable Garden Internship
Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Sustainable Garden Intern to provide fresh food to local food pantries while educating the community about sustainable agriculture. The intern will gain hands-on experience in sustainable gardening techniques and have the opportunity to lead educational programs and coordinate volunteer efforts.

Responsibilities
Creative freedom with planning and mapping garden beds
Planting, pruning, weeding, vegetable harvest, and deliveries
Assist with various assigned projects such as leading harvest days with summer campers and leading educational programs/tours for the public
Will oversee Garden for Good volunteer crew and coordinate with food pantries
Qualification
Required
Current college student or recent graduate in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, or a related field
Be comfortable working independently
Be eager to learn and share knowledge
Be comfortable working with the public, school-age children and adults
Be self-motivated, able to follow directions and work independently
Be able to lift heavy items (20 – 50 pounds)
Be able to work outdoors and use a variety of gardening equipment such as shovels, rakes, or wheelbarrow
Preferred
Garden planning, seed planting, weeding and harvest experience is preferred
Some teaching experience and working with volunteers is preferred
Use mechanical equipment, including tractor operation, experience a plus but not required
