Responsibilities

You will incorporate state-of-the-art evidence-based practice and scientific principles in the differential diagnosis, treatment and management of novel and unprecedented auditory disorders
You will continually monitor data for trends that impact Hearing Conservation program implementation and outcomes
You will educate physician, Audiology residents/students, nurses, medical professionals and paraprofessionals on theoretical and practical aspects of audiology
You will exercise independent professional judgement in applying diagnostic procedures to assess and determine appropriate etiology and disposition plans for hearing conservation care

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current certificate of clinical competence in Audiology from American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) or Board Certification from the American Board of Audiology (ABA)
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
Must possess a valid driver's license to drive to and from different support commands in order to complete work site visits and clinic visits
Applicants must meet positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Experience serving as an audiologist providing diagnostic audiology care and services
Experience providing hearing loss prevention consultation services, hearing protection fittings/consultations; and hearing conservation technician competency assessments
Experience providing data and reports regarding Hearing Conservation Program compliance, Significant Threshold Shift (STS) rates, and other program metrics
Experience performing administrative Hearing Conservation Program oversight to ensure quality care and services, accurate test protocols, and valid audiometric data collection
Experience utilizing the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System - Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC) data repository systems in order to perform quality analysis or hearing conservation data
Experience applying protocols and procedures in the prevention, mitigation and management of hearing disorders
Experience performing audiology assessments and making diagnosis and treatment recommendations for auditory disorders
Experience providing management and oversight of Industrial/Occupational Hearing Conservation Programs and hearing loss prevention efforts
Education: The mandatory education program described below must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained
Degree: For audiologist positions, a graduate or higher level graduate degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice
Applicants for positions with both speech pathologist and audiologist duties must have successfully completed all the requirements for a graduate or higher level degree with 18 semester hours in one of the fields with approved clinical practice and, in addition, must have either completed a minor in the other field or must have had at least 1 year of professional experience in the other field
Licensure: A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Speech/Language Pathology and/or Audiology as applicable in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
