Seasonal Engineering Technician
Yosemite National Park is seeking a Seasonal Engineering Technician to support the planning, design, and construction of facility repair and rehabilitation projects. The role involves performing measurements, analyzing conditions, and assisting with technical documentation and project management tasks.

Responsibilities
Serves as a team member engaged in the planning, design, and construction of park facility repair and rehabilitation projects
Performs detailed measurements of existing infrastructure and enters data into databases
Analyzes and performs condition assessments and identifies deficiencies in existing facilities and systems
Researches and drafts standard design and construction details for the park
Assists with topographic survey and GIS mapping
Assists with the development of a cost estimating database to track and analyze construction cost
Drafts and edits technical engineering reports and effectively documents project work and other accomplishments
Mentoring and monitoring junior level employees

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required

To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of six (6) months of general work experience AND six (6) months of specialized work experience
General work experience is any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems
Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents
Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes
Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated

OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two (2) full academic years above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as: engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics

OR Successful completion of a combination of experience and education as described above that when combined equal 100% of the qualification requirements
For example, one full year of education (50%), and 6 months of specialized experience as defined above (50%), equals 100% of the qualification requirements

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors)
This experience includes activities that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems

NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable
