CNC Manufacturing Process Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop end-to-end CNC machining processes: tooling, fixturing, and programming for multi-axis mills and mill-turn lathes
Create, simulate, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Esprit), validating with Vericut to meet specifications and quality targets
Analyze workflows to boost throughput, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste using Lean methods
Collaborate with design engineers to drive manufacturability (DFM) of new and existing products
Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis (RCCA); implement robust corrective and preventive actions
Assess and select CNC equipment, tooling, and emerging technologies to support production needs
Author and maintain process documentation: SOPs, setup sheets, and detailed work instructions
Train and mentor operators and peers on programming techniques, in-process probing, and best practices
Champion continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, Six Sigma projects, and Kaizen events
Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

Required

5+ years in CNC machining/process engineering with hands-on programming, setup, and operation, including probing and macro programming
Proficiency with CAD/CAM (SolidWorks CAD, Esprit CAM, NX CAM or equivalent) and simulation (Vericut)
Deep knowledge of multi-axis machining: 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and multi-axis mill-turn lathes
Strong command of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint interpretation
Extensive experience with metrology and common measurement systems
Lean manufacturing expertise and a track record of process optimization
Exceptional problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
Clear communicator and collaborative team player across functions

Preferred

Bachelor's in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
PC-DMIS CMM programming and/or automation engineering experience
Background in firearms manufacturing
ERP/MRP familiarity (Epicor preferred) for production planning
Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt; experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001
