Responsibilities

Own backend services and API design using FastAPI
Design and implement async workflows, state machines, and event-driven lifecycles
Ship production systems used across multiple mission-critical products
Work deeply with PostgreSQL on schema design, querying, and performance
Build pub/sub and background processing using Redis
Take systems from architecture → implementation → production ownership
Write tests, review code, and influence backend standards and patterns

Required

Strong, production-level experience building Python backend services
Proven ownership of production APIs and systems
Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and performance tradeoffs
Experience building asynchronous or event-driven systems
Comfort shipping and running containerized applications
Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, small-team environment

Preferred

Geospatial or time-series systems (GeoAlchemy, Shapely, H3) or background in simulation, gaming, real-time, telemetry, or systems engineering would be a massive bonus
