Responsibilities
Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness and condition of shipments
Assess current processes, make recommendations and implement improvements
Issue work orders or oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
Supervise and direct the movement of freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment
Ensure that cargo is identified and inspected before loading and unloading and compared to shippers
Ensure discrepancies are documented and handled according to proper procedure
Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance accordingly
Compile records related to shipping and receiving
Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected
Solid knowledge of logistics, JIT deliveries, coordination and organization of materials and equipment used in the manufacturing process
Supervise the completion of general yard duties, such as housekeeping, cleanup, inventory/material counts and general organization
May assist workers in shipping and receiving activities
Qualification
Required
