The Tissue Culture Intern works closely with the Tissue Culture Lab Manager to support and learn hands-on skills related to greenhouse operations, gaining exposure to all facets of the greenhouse mini-tuber operation through lab work, research projects, and educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

Support the Tissue Culture Lab Manager with maintenance of the clone bank, containing 300+ varieties

Proper use of aseptic technique, assisting the lab team with the propagation and production of high-quality plantlets for greenhouse needs

Assist in the preparation of media and stock solutions

Assist in the production planning process

Learn and use IVS software system for variety and production management

Observe and collect data of growing conditions of plantlets in tissue culture

Assist with the transfer and preparation of plantlets from the lab to the greenhouse

Learn greenhouse processes in other departments

Take on other tasks and responsibilities as needed

Qualification

Required

Are pursuing an Associates or bachelor's degree in biology, horticulture, plant science, crop science or related field

Preferred

Are generally tech savvy and can use basic software systems such as Excel and Word

Possess excellent organizational and project management skills

Previous lab and/or tissue culture experience

Are an excellent communicator; asking for and valuing positive and constructive feedback in an effort to grow within your role and career
