Manager Transmission System Planning
Salt River Project (SRP) is one of the largest public power and water utilities in the U.S., providing electricity to approximately one million customers in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area. The Manager Transmission System Planning is responsible for planning, communicating, implementing, and coordinating departmental projects while supervising personnel and ensuring assignments meet established standards and deadlines.

Responsibilities
Provide oversight of planning studies and results for the annual capital budget planning process for the SRP transmission system; perform these analyses as necessary to support the objectives of the team
Provide review of some or all planned transmission projects (69kV through 500kV transmission systems)
Review and assignment of transmission system analyses to ensure a reliable transmission system in the future including the six year capital planning cycle and Ten Year Plan. Perform technical transmission planning analyses when necessary
Provide oversight of the generation or transmission interconnection or transmission service requests studies performed either internally or through a consultant
Manage, hire, train, and develop professionals and engineers, and/or business-critical subject-matter experts in the evaluation of the impacts of interconnecting new resource projects (e.g., renewable, natural gas, DER) and large industrial load projects (e.g., manufacturing, data centers) to the transmission and distribution system
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to empower, engage and drive high employee performance
Oversee and approve project plans and deliverables including work scopes, schedules, milestones, budgets, and customer agreements
Ensure high productivity, efficiency, and quality by establishing and monitoring key performance indicator metrics for personnel and projects
Implement quality control measures to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
Manage the procurement of contracted services including engineering and/or project management services with supervision of contract negotiations, administration, activities, performance, and relationships
Manage the development and negotiation of project agreements with outside entities including large customers
Provide project sponsorship by effectively communicating and managing expectations and objectives to engineering personnel, supporting organizations, customers, and other stakeholders
Participate and/or lead formal and informal meetings concerning projects and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, including customers
Oversee the development of the 10-Year Transmission Plan for the state regulatory agency
Maintain awareness of Federal and State regulations' potential impacts to transmission system reliability and to provide policy advice for SRP management
Oversee the technical review of all large scale customer requests that may impact the transmission network
Qualification
Required
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required
In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 11 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 11 years may be considered
Knowledge of the application and usefulness of transmission planning modeling tools; power flow, stability, and short circuit
Ability to convey highly technical information to management and/or to public, in either written or oral format
Knowledge and direction of the application of industry technical committee results for improved system modeling
All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Currently, SRP does not sponsor H1B visas, OPT, or other employment-related visas
Preferred
A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred
