The State of Tennessee is seeking a GIS Analyst Advanced to provide high-level technical and analytical support in the development and evaluation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This role involves leading GIS initiatives, mentoring staff, and integrating GIS solutions within complex agency systems.

Responsibilities
Leads complex spatial analysis projects, designs GIS applications, and defines spatial data models based on agency objectives
Supervises GIS staff or leads technical projects, assigns work based on resources and expertise, and evaluates performance
Programs advanced GIS tools, integrates GIS with enterprise systems, and configures spatial data processing workflows
Develops training programs and user materials, supports agency staff, and ensures GIS knowledge transfer
Conducts independent QA reviews of GIS outputs, ensures system compatibility, and monitors application performance
Advises agencies on GIS adoption, system improvements, and resource planning based on industry trends and operational needs
Maintains official project documentation, system specifications, and spatial data archives to support audit-readiness and continuity
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and two years of GIS experience in application development or spatial report generation
GIS, IT, CAD, or mapping experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (up to four years)
Graduate coursework in geography may substitute for one year of experience
Attainment of GIS Professional Certification also qualifies
