Site Exit - Central Office Tech (Travel)

Responsibilities
Conduct a thorough audit of the existing facilities and decommission equipment
Provide resources to conduct the harvesting and decommissioning
Perform pre-wiring work in preparation for circuit grooms and support through the migration efforts
Verify all fiber connections within the CenturyLink space with the Fiber Finder test equipment
Document what the fiber is connected to (e.g., equipment and port) and Light Level status in the Detailed Inventory EXCEL spreadsheet and verified onsite
Identify Fiber Panel type
Verify all equipment ports, with facilities connected, are accounted for on the demarcation panel audit
Include paths for any equipment ports that do not connect to demarcation panels
Record on-site fiber labels and add labels to unlabeled active fibers
Use DS3 test equipment to monitor the DS3 signal at the DSX-3 monitor jack
Determine if the DS3 circuit status to be in USE or in ALARM and potentially not in use
Audit other end of the Riser, up to where CenturyLink space ceases
Work with GFS for access to non-CenturyLink spaces and verify the back side of the Risers correlate between the two ends of the Riser
Qualification
Required
Willingness to travel for up to weeks at a time
Experience with site exit efforts
Ability to conduct thorough audits of existing facilities
Experience in decommissioning equipment
Ability to work on lifts
Experience with pre-wiring work in preparation for circuit grooms
Support through migration efforts of live customer circuits
Experience as a Central Office technician
Ability to work primarily during the day inside COs and warehouse environments
Ability to work Sunday night through Friday morning
Occasional overnight work for cutovers
Experience with general cable audit services
Ability to provide a physical Network Element (NE) facility 'point to point' audit
Experience with coax cabling, fiber facilities, and CAT5 cabling
Ability to verify fiber connections with Fiber Finder test equipment
Experience with DSX-3 facility monitoring
Ability to document and maintain detailed inventory in EXCEL spreadsheets
Experience with riser audit services
Skills in troubleshooting, equipment auditing, routers, switches, fiber optic network, telecommunication, SONET, DWDM, and Excel data entry
Attention to detail
Understanding of what to do and not do in a CO
Intermediate level of experience
