Respiratory Therapist ( RRT )

Sampson Regional Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide respiratory care to patients of all ages and collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings.

Responsibilities

Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to patients as prescribed by physicians
Adequately performs nebulizer therapy, oxygen therapy, metered dose inhalers, pulmonary function tests, etc
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs monitoring and airway management
Demonstrates correct intubation procedures
Demonstrates ability to properly obtain routine and non-routine EKG's, obtaining acceptable tracings
Demonstrates ability to properly obtain Arterial Blood Gas, assuring sample reaches the Laboratory promptly
Operate and maintain ventilators and other respiratory equipment
Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings, including ICU, Med Surg, OB, and Emergency Department
Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatment plans
Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately in medical records
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical terminology standards, and safety protocols

Required

NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and a graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Technology Program
Must Maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
Must maintain current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of North Carolina
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to respiratory care
Proficiency in basic life support techniques and advanced airway management skills
Familiarity with ventilator management and patient assessment protocols
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

Preferred

One (1) year of experience preferred
Experience in hospital medicine, critical care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and pulmonology
Ability to work effectively in both inpatient and outpatient settings
