Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies
Full design responsibility for all automation & controls scopes
Lead teams of engineers, specialists, and designers
Develop PLC & HMI programming deliverables, Batch/MES architecture, servers & virtualization solutions
Lead commissioning and startup of automation systems
Prepare controls design deliverables: instrument lists, I/O lists, control narratives, hardware design, panel layouts
Lead control panel design and vendor coordination; oversee FAT testing
Lead electrical design (480VAC and below), including motor power systems and installation drawings
Select process instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, valves)
Review P&IDs, collaborate with process engineers, and define controls scope
Develop calculations, verification plans, engineering studies, and reports
Coordinate deliverables with offsite design offices
Perform QA/QC reviews of design submittals
Apply industry codes, standards, and best practices (NFPA, ISA, IEC, IEEE, etc.)
Interface with construction teams, support installation, inspections, and testing
Lead commissioning teams on-site
Prepare discipline change notices and support project change management
Estimate engineering hours, develop proposals, and define project strategies
Support hiring, interviewing, and resource allocation
Build client relationships and identify business development opportunities
Participate in client events and key pursuits
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Deep technical expertise in automation and controls engineering
Ability to lead engineering teams
Manage complex projects
Interface with multiple disciplines
Support both commissioning and startup phases
