Responsibilities
Negotiate, draft, and review a wide range of music and entertainment industry agreements, including recording, management, publishing, licensing, and distribution contracts
Handle complex worldwide music publishing issues, neighboring rights, and royalty structures
Manage album clearance, touring agreements, executive employment contracts, and nondisclosure agreements
Draft and file copyright registrations and assist with trademark prosecution and enforcement matters
Supervise royalty audits and analyze complex financial data related to licensing and royalty payments
Address licensing disputes, contractual disagreements, and intellectual property conflicts
Provide litigation support, including drafting correspondence, pleadings, and strategic memoranda
Manage matters independently from inception through resolution, with partner oversight as appropriate
Maintain high-quality work product and ensure accuracy and compliance prior to partner review
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 2+ years of law firm experience, with a preference for attorneys handling music, copyright, trademark, or complex IP matters
Strong working knowledge of the U.S. Copyright Act and trademark law
Experience with entertainment-related transactions or IP litigation strongly preferred
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly for royalty and financial analysis
Self-starter mindset with the ability to take initiative and ownership of matters
Active bar license in good standing
Preferred
Experience with entertainment-related transactions or IP litigation strongly preferred
