Electrical Designer Drafter

They are seeking an experienced AutoCAD Electrical Designer to create and develop custom, industrial-grade switchgear systems, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.

Responsibilities

Design and develop Medium Voltage Switchgear assemblies for industrial applications up to 4000 AMPs
Produce AutoCAD Electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to ensure manufacturable, cost-effective designs
Integrate load interrupter switches and metal-clad draw-out circuit breakers into switchgear layouts
Support design of 12-gauge, fully welded enclosures meeting NEMA 1–4X standards
Optimize switchgear configurations using QES’s compact 42-inch-deep design for Power Distribution Centers (PDCs)
Develop and maintain BOMs, panel layouts, and assembly documentation
Ensure designs comply with UL 347 and ULC 37.20.2 standards
Coordinate with OEM vendors for switchgear component integration and customization
Participate in design reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives

Required

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–7 years of experience in AutoCAD Electrical design for industrial or power distribution systems
Knowledge of medium voltage (5–15kV) systems and protection schemes
Familiarity with UL 347, ULC 37.20.2, and NEMA standards
Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, and mechanical drawings
Strong collaboration and communication skills

Preferred

Experience with metal-enclosed or metal-clad switchgear design
Background in custom electrical equipment manufacturing
Familiarity with PLC, relay logic, and protective relaying design
Exposure to arc-resistant gear or compact modular systems
