Principal Turbomachinery Engineer
First Principle is partnered with an early-stage aerospace company developing a unique launch platform for lower-cost orbital access. They are seeking a Principal Turbomachinery Engineer to manage the entire turbomachinery stack, involving design, build, and testing, while collaborating closely with the founders to advance propulsion technology.

Responsibilities
Own the whole turbomachinery stack, including the design, build, and testing of core machinery
Work directly with the founders as they transition forward from TRL 3/4 to 5 early next year
Manage multiple component-to system-level testing transitions, teardown analysis, and iterative performance improvement
Qualification
Required
Minimum degree level qualification in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
True domain SME in high-speed turbomachinery development, likely with 10-20+ years of experience working on jet engines, rockets, gas turbines, or similar
Experience designing for extremely high levels of performance and manufacturability in aerospace or adjacent environments
Track record of managing multiple component-to system-level testing transitions, teardown analysis, and iterative performance improvement
High levels of proficiency with 3D CAD, CFD, FEA, and simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS, SolidWorks, NX, or similar)
Ability to operate independently, pushing frontier complex engineering alongside a fast-paced team of accomplished individuals with a first principles mindset and sound engineering judgement
It is essential that this person is a current US permanent resident or citizen to be ITAR compliant
