Senior GIS Database Administrator
Seneca Resources Company, LLC is a Fortune 500 customer located in Brooklyn, NY, looking for a Senior GIS Database Administrator. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the client’s enterprise GIS and Oracle-based OMS environments, ensuring high availability, performance, data integrity, and scalability across Gas and Electric geospatial systems.

Responsibilities
Support and maintain Oracle OMS and ESRI-based enterprise GIS environments, including ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcFM
Administer ArcGIS services, instances, user accounts, permissions, and configuration stores
Perform performance monitoring and optimization across ArcGIS, ArcFM, and ArcSDE environments
Support build deployments and environment refreshes across development, test, and production systems
Maintain synchronization jobs and report failures to application points of contact
Administer and maintain Oracle, SQL Server, and spatial databases supporting enterprise GIS applications
Perform SDE compress operations, index rebuilds, database reorganizations, and version management
Design and manage SDE-Oracle database storage, including dbtune configuration and spatial indexing
Conduct database performance tuning for OLTP and OLAP workloads
Monitor database growth, capacity, scalability, tasks, and schedules
Maintain client's enterprise geospatial data models for Gas and Electric systems (versioned and non-versioned)
Manage data synchronization, replication, and refreshes across environments
Support editing workflows and version architecture within ArcSDE environments
Load spatial and non-spatial data using SQL Loader, Data Pump, import/export, and transportable tablespaces
Maintain spatial metadata and dimensional information for geospatial datasets
Support Linux and Windows servers built to enterprise standards
Monitor OS-level performance including CPU, memory, I/O, swap, file systems, and network utilization
Perform server consolidation and platform migrations (e.g., Solaris to Linux)
Install, configure, upgrade, and patch GIS applications across Unix and Windows environments
Manage FlexLM single-user and multi-user GIS licensing
Design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies using RMAN, Data Pump, scripts, and third-party tools
Configure Oracle Data Guard, hot standby databases, failover, and load balancing (TAF)
Administer database security, auditing, roles, privileges, and profiles in compliance with SOX and corporate security standards
Support recovery from data loss events and perform environment restores as needed
Assist application developers with functional, unit, and integration testing
Partner with infrastructure, application support, and engineering teams to resolve complex issues
Produce technical documentation related to system design, database configuration, operational procedures, and change management
Participate in requirements gathering, systems design reviews, and integration planning
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience supporting enterprise GIS and spatial database environments
Strong hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcFM, and enterprise GIS platforms
Extensive experience administering Oracle databases, including Oracle Spatial
Strong experience with SQL Server database administration
Proven expertise in GIS data models, versioning, editing workflows, and spatial indexing
Strong Linux and Windows server administration experience
Experience with database performance tuning, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and capacity planning
Proficiency with scripting (Shell, Batch, PL/SQL) for automation and monitoring
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Experience supporting utility or telecommunications GIS environments
Experience with OMS (Outage Management Systems) and network-based GIS platforms
Advanced experience with Oracle Spatial, partitioning, and performance optimization
Familiarity with SAP, Oracle Applications, Fusion Middleware, or enterprise middleware platforms
Experience supporting large-scale ArcGIS Enterprise migrations or upgrades
Knowledge of MapInfo or additional GIS platforms
Experience working in regulated environments with strict security and audit requirements
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, enterprise operations environment
