VP, Assistant Controller

Responsibilities

Perform and oversee critical close-related activities, including preparation and review of journal entries and analytical review of monthly and quarterly financial statements
Collaborate closely with controllership team members and cross-functional partners including tax, valuations, treasury, FP&A, and financial reporting
Review subsidiary and consolidated financial information, including analysis of unusual or complex transactions
Manage relationships with accounting teams across multiple subsidiaries to ensure accurate consolidation and reporting of results
Prepare and deliver consolidated monthly reporting to the CFO
Lead ad-hoc and long-term initiatives related to system implementations, automation, and process improvements

Required

CPA license required
Minimum of 5–7 years of total professional experience
Significant experience in a public company environment required
Bachelor's degree required (Accounting or Finance strongly preferred)
High-energy, resilient professional with a positive, decisive management approach
Ability to operate effectively in a fluid, demanding, and performance-driven environment
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and apply prior experience to new and evolving situations
Demonstrated sense of urgency, accountability, and commitment, paired with strong strategic and operational judgment
Confidence and experience interacting with senior-level internal and external stakeholders
Persuasive, articulate leader who leads by example and maintains a strong focus on goal achievement
Exceptional professionalism, presence, and work ethic; comfortable operating within a merit-based culture
Proven people manager with the ability to set clear expectations, follow through on deliverables, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred

Experience within financial services—particularly mortgage or asset management—is strongly preferred
Prior experience leading system implementations and/or process improvement initiatives preferred
