Responsibilities
Work closely with Program Engineers, the Payload Lead, and the Talon-A Chief Engineer to support program success
Lead a multi-discipline team including mechanical, structures, analysis, dynamics, and manufacturing engineers
Drive structural development of the hypersonic vehicle and support payload integration
Make final technical decisions for the structures subsystem
Lead structural design reviews to support manufacturing and flight test milestones
Own the structural systems engineering approach, including requirements, mass properties, configuration management, and review/approval of technical documents and analyses
Provide regular updates to the Program Chief Engineer
Support integration of complex aerospace systems across the vehicle
Travel as needed
Maintain accountability, integrity, and follow-through on commitments
Qualification
Required
Experience in one or more areas such as structures, loads, structural/thermal analysis, mechanical systems, aircraft systems, aircraft operations, or launch vehicle integration
Background supporting rapid prototype or experimental flight vehicle development, with full life-cycle involvement on at least one program
Experience leading structural design and/or analysis efforts within an engineering team
Hands-on experience with composite structures (analysis, design, and manufacturing)
Aerospace technical leadership experience, including work with subcontractors and external partners
Experience identifying and managing technical risk
Comfortable working in small teams where responsibilities may overlap
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and support business/program goals
Experience supporting development of complex aerospace systems
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Preferred
Experience with hypersonic and/or supersonic vehicle programs
Experience with air-launched vehicle development
Familiarity with BMI or epoxy prepreg composite materials
Experience supporting static structural testing
