Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including premium taxes and other insurance‑specific filings
Develop and execute the company's tax strategy to support growth, product expansion, and corporate initiatives
Oversee quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with GAAP
Partner closely with Finance, Actuarial, Legal, and Regulatory teams to evaluate tax impacts of new offerings, pricing strategies, and market expansions
Manage and respond to audits and inquiries from tax authorities
Implement scalable processes, internal controls, and documentation standards to support a rapidly growing organization
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the health insurance industry and advise senior leadership on their implications
Provide mentorship and leadership to a growing tax team
Qualification
Required
10+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant experience in the insurance or healthcare industry
Deep knowledge of federal and state tax regulations, including premium tax frameworks and ACA‑related tax provisions
Strong technical foundation in corporate tax, including ASC 740
Proven experience leading tax teams and managing complex tax environments
Ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on, with a strong bias for action and operational excellence
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex rules to non‑tax stakeholders
Preferred
CPA or Master's in Tax strongly preferred
