The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation is responsible for managing the state's natural resources and ensuring environmental protection. They are seeking a Facility Operations Assistant 2 to operate equipment, perform manual and semi-skilled work at DEC facilities, and assist with various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

Will be required to operator equipment including skid steers, tractors, plow trucks, loaders, chippers, stump grinders and other machines
Must complete manual and semi skilled work in various DEC facilities. (work assignments will include cleaning of toilets / bathroom facilities, building of outhouses and picnic tables, winter roof shoveling, minor carpentry, roofing, painting, minor plumbing, equipment operation, chainsaw operation, maintaining roads, grounds and facilities, lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes and shovels and various hand tools.)
Must be able to follow written and or oral instructions to complete projects
Will be required to operate a personal computer
Must be well groomed, wear issued uniform, as well as proper safety PPE. Issued clothing and safety gear must be kept clean and presentable
Must be flexible with your schedule and assignments and be able to change easily and efficiently from task to task

Required

One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator
Two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade
Valid New York State driver's license
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain
Must be able to work in remote areas
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
Must complete manual and semi skilled work in various DEC facilities
Must be able to follow written and or oral instructions to complete projects
Will be required to operate a personal computer
Must be well groomed, wear issued uniform, as well as proper safety PPE
Must be flexible with your schedule and assignments and be able to change easily and efficiently from task to task
Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position
Overtime may be required
Overnight travel may be required
Weekends and holidays may be required
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies

Preferred

Possession of a Class B CDL
