Senior Accountant / Accountant Trainee 1 / 2 - NY HELPS
The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation is responsible for protecting New York’s natural resources and environment. They are seeking a Senior Accountant / Accountant Trainee to support the financial operations of their environmental programs, ensuring accurate accounting and compliance with federal grant requirements.

Responsibilities
The incumbent of this position will be responsible for various functions which support the financial operations of the Department’s environmental programs
This includes working collaboratively with various stakeholders to advance new federal grant opportunities that make critical investments to protect New York’s natural resources and environment
Duties include ensuring revenues are accounted for accurately in the Department’s financial system, performing professional accounting supporting federal grant fiscal reporting and billing, and monitoring compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, agency procedures, directives, and budgeting requirements
The position requires the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including representatives of other Department program divisions and other State agencies
The incumbent must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to prioritize
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's or higher degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation
A bachelor's or higher degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses
One year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing for Trainee 2
A master's or higher degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation for Trainee 2
Two years of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing for Full Performance Level
A master's or higher degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation AND one year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing for Full Performance Level
A currently valid Certified Public Accountant license and registration issued by New York State
A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing courses for open competitive minimum qualifications
