Patient Navigator Intern (Volunteer Unpaid)

Responsibilities
Provide support and resources to lupus patients and their families
Assist in navigating healthcare systems and securing necessary care
Coordinate referrals
Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers
Manage case files
Guide individuals to educational and support programs
Assist with community engagement
Maintain organizational records
Qualification
Required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals effectively
Organizational and time management skills to coordinate referrals and manage case files efficiently
Ability to work empathetically with individuals facing health challenges
Ability to work some weekends assisting with education and other events
Proficiency in research and data management to locate resources and maintain accurate records
Basic knowledge of healthcare systems or experience in a clinical or non-profit health-related setting is beneficial
Most possess an ability to work independently
Computer literacy required (e.g. database, spreadsheets, and word processing applications)
Preferred
Experience with health advocacy, community outreach, or social services is a plus
Pursuing or holding a degree in public health, social work, psychology, or a related field is highly desirable
